about

FarFetched, Smoke Signal Studios, and CTWO (Center for Third World Organizing) present Subvert Volume 1 releasing on August 28th. The collaborative project is presented in a thought-provoking, lyrically inclined eclecticism form. FarFetched and its founder & producer, Damon Davis' approach for the new album centers around the integration of music and activism - furthermore showcasing artists on the forefront vigorously involved within their communities.

"This project is an experimental music incubator with social justice activists delivering music for the culture," stated Damon Davis, "the primary focus and overview are for the audience to understand what is occurring right now."

Over two years, the Emmy award-winning visionary, Damon Davis, produced and curated the album to deliver a body of work dedicated to the people of the struggle that acknowledges their stance of power and personal gain in inner cities as his hometown in St. Louis. Despite the adversity of reality, the global pandemic, tragic police brutality issues across the nation and other deeply rooted issues of experience; the collaborative team of Nephiilove, Katarra Parson, Prophet, and Poet X alongside A'Viana Naree and Asa the Artist amplifies the message of consistent activism movement for change of demand through our call of actions. The multifaceted collective emerges from the cities of St. Louis and Miami, resonating with the lyricism conveyed through an insightful perspective instead of public perception through mass media.

Subvert Volume 1, fosters the illusion of genuine storytelling through the lenses of the curation. The valiant two-minute interlude, "Fight for It," contributes a glimpse into the narrative of the album. Transitioning into the breakthrough single, "Children of The Sun," the melodic, up-tempo production harmonizes with the powerful chants and affirmations of freedom. The album sustains the consistency of flow through the guidance and emphasis of their struggle and celebration.
